Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Engraving, Etching, and Frosting

How long does it take to custom engrave/etch my glass?

Turn around time can vary depending on the intricacy of the requested custom work. We generally estimate about 3 weeks from the time we receive your glass piece but a more accurate time estimate is given with the price estimate we provide once we calculate the scope of the requested custom work.

How much does it cost to have my glass custom engraved?

Pricing is purely determined by the intricacy of the work requested and the amount of work requested. Determining factors include the shape of the piece, the size of the piece, and the shape of the area the requested work is being done on said piece.

Is glass the only medium that can be engraved?

Although glass is not the only medium that can be engraved, that is where the hefty majority of our experience lies and the most intricate work can be done. Intricate work can also be done on Quartz. More simple, single layer engraving is available for most types of metals/alloys, ceramics, porcelain.

Are you able to sandblast/restore my Quartz banger?

Yes, we offer quartz restoration services to prolong the life (and look) of your used Quartz banger or similar Quartz vaporization platform. We use a (almost) proprietary technique to safely remove oxidation and charred on byproduct. Our method both restores the look of your quartz similar to its original look and ensures the quartz element is not exposed to micro-inhalation (unlike simply fully sandblasting the banger, which is not safe, lowers the quality of the quartz, and exposes the quartz to the risk of inhalation). Our restoration method gives the longest lasting finish allowing for the most prolonged life of your thought-to-be-dead Quartz banger or similarly utilized Quartz platform.

How do you recommend I ship my glass to you to get customized?

When shipping your piece, package with bubble wrap, foam peanuts, newspaper etc.; anything that cushions the glass well without scratching or damaging it at all. Ensure the glass is packed so snug, it cannot move at all inside of the box. We recommend double boxing. That is packaging your glass in a box, then placing that box within another along with a layer of peanuts in between the two layers of boxes.
Whatever you package your glass in, again, please ensure it is packaged tight and there is no room for the piece to move at all during shipping. We discourage the use of pelican cases for shipping. If using one, please ensure the piece is packed tightly. If we feel it unfit to ship the piece back in the case, you will be charged more for shipping.
If shipping more than one piece together in the same box (not recommended) please package each piece individually first and make sure they cannot touch during shipping.
There is a general $20 – $60 estimated standard shipping and handling fee in the USA for return delivery. Depending on the size of the piece(s) and location it is being shipped to, the price can increase.
Your quote will include the shipping.
Please include your payment (if paying by money order) within an envelope inside the box.

Glass Repair

How long does it take to repair my glass?

Turn around time can vary depending on the intricacy of the requested repair work. We generally estimate about 3 weeks from the time we receive your glass piece but a more accurate time estimate is given with the price estimate we provide once we calculate the scope of the requested repair work.

How much does it cost to have my glass repaired?

Pricing is purely determined by the intricacy and size of the repair requested. Determining factors include the type of break that occurred, the shape and size of the piece, if any custom changes are specified, and if custom colored glass is required, amongst several other factors that are determined on a case by case basis. Simple joint and straight tube base plate repairs generally start off around $80.

Are there any risks associated with glass repair?

With most glass in general, any piece that is put back into the kiln for repair has the low low inherent risk of shattering. This can occur due to various factors including but not limited to micro fractures in the glass not visible to the eye, uneven breakage, or poor original craftsmanship (i.e. ‘China glass’). In the rare occurrence of a piece completely breaking in the kiln, the customer will not be charged at all for the repair. In this unfortunate circumstance, we are both at a loss as our time spent on the repair is lost as well as the customer’s piece of glass. Any broken glass will be responsibly recycled/discarded.  Once again, this risk is minimal and extremely rare but we need you to know that the risk exists with repairs.
